- Cut down fried, fast food, and processed food - If you eat fresh food, a lot of vegetables, fruit, lean meat, and complex carbs like brown rice and whole flour pasta, your body will have much easier time to use the calories you're feeding it instead of turning them into ugly abdominal fat.
- Eat more meals but make them smaller - Most people eat large meals making it impossible for their body to cope with all the food they eat. The only thing left is to turn much of their food to fat. If you break your meals into 4-6 smaller portions throughout the day, your body will have a much easier time of it.
Step #2 - Reverse the Process
The second step in your process to lose your beer belly is to get a little more active. Even a small amount of exercise can do wonders. You wouldn't believe the results you may have. Start walking in the evenings, play a sport (even golf or bowling is better than sitting at home), or join a gym. Whatever suits you. You need to do some exercise in order to accelerate the fat burning process. Don't think that sit-ups will do anything to your stomach fat, because they won't. The key to getting rid of it is to lower overall body fat. The best way to do this is through complete strength and cardiovascular workouts. But again, start slow and gradually build up your activity levels.
The best thing to do in order to get rid of your beer belly is to become better educated at fitness and diet issues. Once you know the right things to do, it'll be much easier for you to succeed.

As a weight loss coach I speak will people regularly about their view and beliefs surrounding food and nutrition. It probably wont come as a surprise to hear there is a great deal of confusion around nutrition. In fact, many people reading this article will have only a scant idea about the different food types and what our body actually needs to keep healthy.
One of the simplest systems Ive encountered is this. If the food tastes good, then it has to be bad for you! And then theres its counterpart, If the food tastes bad then it must be good for you. You may identify with these views, or some closely related version! Nutrition for some has been reduced to a concept of good and bad with little else.
Some common weight loss myths that people believe - which arent true!
Myth #1: Cutting down on portion size is the best way to lose weight. Not on its own. If you attempt to lose weight by just eating less, you are likely to gain the weight back. Lasting results will come from changing the types of foods you eat, not just the amounts.
Myth #2: Just cut out fat and youll lose weight. This approach to weight loss, popular in the 80s, simply doesnt work for most people. Even if a food is labeled fat-free, it can still be high in calories from sugar and hidden carbs. Effective weight loss comes from being mindful of your total calorie consumption as well as your fat intake.
Myth #3: Cutting calories causes your body to go into starvation mode and slows weight loss. This is untrue. Your bodys resting metabolic rate can vary by about 15%. Nevertheless, eating too few calories and an inadequate amount of protein can make you lose precious lean muscle mass, which will eventually slow metabolism, for the long term. Some Weight Loss Studies That Made The Headlines In 2007
Here are a few of the weight loss studies that made headlines for the year 2007. The results of this first study come as no surprise. The study showed that even low levels of exercise are beneficial. Participants walked briskly for thirty minutes a day three days a week. Their blood pressure decreased and their overall fitness improved. Waist and hip girth decreased significantly.
Another study showed if you are a cyclist you are at a greater risk of osteoporosis. It's recommended that you include some weight bearing exercises in your workouts.
Aren't some of these studies just plain old common sense? Exercise is beneficial to the brain announced another 2007 study. The data showed exercise improved the cognitive function of the brain.
Using a pedometer caused significant increases in physical activity and significant decreases in body mass index and blood pressure. My advice, run out and buy a pedometer and keep track of your steps and mileage.
Did you know the more entertaining a television program the more you eat. That's right a study showed the more involved the subjects were in the TV show the more they ate.
There have been many studies over the years on Conjugated Linoleic Acid CLA. The 2007 study showed that CLA helps a person lose fat.
This one is a bit of a surprise. Overweight people did not benefit as much from strength training as did leaner people. Researchers showed that both groups benefited from strength training. It's just that overweight people did not gain as much strength or lean muscle mass.
Not so surprisingly, eating soup or a salad before your meal helps to curb your appetite. The study showed that soup took the edge off hunger.
When you think about it, the findings of this study make a lot of sense. Emotional eaters have the hardest time losing and keeping weight off.
This one's scary. Being overweight increases the risk of kidney cancer.
Hang on to your seat because Americans are fatter than ever. Didn't we all know this already? How much of our taxpayer money was spent on this one?
This one isn't too hard to believe. All diets have about the same results. Researchers reported that a typical dieter lost about 12 pounds no matter what diet they choose. Providing of course they stuck with it.
A lot of people won't like the results of this study. The Atkins diet resulted in greater weight loss than other diets.
I've got to tell you about this one. Newly married young men and women gained 6 to 9 pounds more than their peers who were not married. And if the couple lived together without the benefit of marriage the weight gain was not nearly as much.
So there you have it. These are just a few of the weight loss studies that made the headlines in 2007. I'll be watching the 2008 studies. Maybe scientist will find the miracle weight loss pill we've all been waiting for.

3 Problems With Weight Loss "Wisdom" - & What To Do About It!
Would you like to lose weight? Have you lost weight and gained it back?
If you're like most Americans today, the answer to that is a screaming, frustrated, "YES!" Let's cut to the chase.
You gained your weight back for one of two reasons:
1. You (and EVERYONE else!) is a "weak-willed failure". Or...
2. The diet "experts" from whom you sought help failed to adequately train you.
According to the National Institutes of Health (NIH), ninety-five percent of all weight that is lost is regained in the first five years following the weight loss. This is clearly an industry problem, NOT a customer problem! Imagine a headline in tomorrow's Wall Street Journal that read, "95% Of All Airline Flights Fail to Reach Their Intended Destination". Not one customer would feel responsible for his or her failure to reach the desired destination! This would CLEARLY be an airline industry problem. Similarly, a ninety-five percent weight regain at five year follow-up is CLEARLY a diet industry problem!
There are three major problems with the conventional approach to diet and weight loss.
1. Weight loss is sold and defined as success. I say, "If weight loss was the cure for weight problems, we would have an epidemic of thin people not fat people!" Weight loss is like having a baby. No one would argue that there is anything easy about having a baby. As difficult as having a baby is, any parent will argue that pregnancy and delivery is the easy part. Weight management services should be marketed as weight control services, NOT weight loss services, and this perspective should be introduced in the marketing phase and built upon in the treatment phase.
2. Diets, and almost all nutrition professionals assume that all overweight people are overweight for the same reason. Consequently, OVER-SIMPLIFIED weight loss (not weight control) services are offered in a one-size fits-all fashion. Services are NOT tailored to the causal issues related to, and the needs of, each individual!
3. The psychology of weight loss - critical psychological difficulties - many of which are created by conventional diet "wisdom", are not understood, acknowledged or addressed in treatment. Weight loss counseling is substandard by nature. For instance, conventional diet "wisdom" holds that one should be on a "diet". Consumption of a piece of pizza is defined as "breaking the diet" and a "failure. If one "fails", that makes that person a "failure". If one is "a failure", isn't he/she doomed? Further, "stress eating" and "compulsive eating", family or origin issues, and body size issues, among a host of other critically important psychological issues and dynamics, are rarely addressed.
In summary, the diet industry has failed miserably to deliver results of any lasting value - results that consumers of weight control services are paying for and entitled to. What is desperately needed is a forward thinking, cutting edge approach that understands the limited value of weight loss, and focuses on providing patrons what the REALLY want:

A lot of people ask me whether it is possible to lose 9 pounds in 9 days with the Fat loss 4 Idiots diet.
