Simple Weight Loss Tips - Misinformation About Simple Weight Loss Revealed

Everyday, magazines give out new simple weight loss tips that are dramatically supposed to reinvent your life and have the fat running away from you. True, some of these tips are extremely valuable and often overlooked because they seem like common sense and obvious, but it is often times the most valuable simple weight loss tip that is also the simplest (how ironic). Today, there will be no discussion about simple weight loss tips in the sense of a top 5 or a quick outline into a specific path, but instead, we will shed some light on myths that permeate throughout the industry and cause people to build diets, routines, and lifestyles on top of a faulty foundation.

There are three myths, three ideologies that are simply destructive to the ill-informed. Myths that promise to cut fat, build muscle, and lose weight can simply add to that stubborn, excessive belly fat or cause your biceps to remain stagnant, growing flabby instead of granite-like.

Simple Weight Loss Tip Myth #1: Spot Reduction does NOT work.... So forget about simply getting rid of only that excessive belly fat or that spare tire, fat loss comes as a collective whole. What this translates into is that simply doing crunches and leg lifts and more crunches and more leg lifts will NOT reduce the fat on your stomach; it simply works out the muscles underneath. Now, in order to see these muscles, one must develop a diet that reduces the overall body fat % or all the crunches and workouts will go to waste.

Which leads us to our second Simple Weight Loss Tip Myth: Less Calories means less Weight/Fat! Not necessarily. Once you starve your body of calories it has a tendency to go into starvation mode and slow the metabolism. The slowing of the metabolism causes you to use your resources less (ie burn calories slower) allowing you to live off the current cache of fat you have. In other words, an intuitive simple weight loss tip that is as widely distributed as this one can have serious effects on your progress if misused. The flipside is weightlifting, which burns calories and fat during it while beefing up your metabolism to work for you afterwards burning calories and fat. Many of us would love to find ways to lose weight without exercising and although this is possible there aren't many ways of doing this. One diet however that allows us to achieve this is a diet based around calorie shifting.

Calorie shifting is a relatively new idea but it certainly is very effective and many are losing weight using the method without doing any exercise at all. Here is a quick brief of how the diet works.

The majority of diets are based around a low calorie diet and the emission of a food group from our diet. Although these can provide results for a very short period they don't continue to work and usually end up with you weighing more than you did when you started.

The reason for this is that by combining low calorie intake and the loss of a food group your body senses it is been starved and slows down your metabolism, which is of course what helps us to burn calories. It also stops your metabolism from burning fat as it wants to store this as an energy reserve. Instead our body burns lean muscle which apart from being unhealthy will also increase your appetite.

An increase in your appetite will usually result in a failed diet. The problem with that is when you start to eat as you used to you will gain weight faster because your metabolism is still working at a slower rate.

Shifting calories instead allows us to eat each food type but rotates when we eat them. This confuses the body and fools it into believing you are not on a diet and so keeps the metabolism working at a higher rate.

This results in fast and safe weight loss, which isn't something you come across often. If your looking for ways to lose weight without exercising you will also be pleased to know that the diet only suggests a brisk walk each day but even without this the diet still works just as well.

End Your Love Affair with Food

If you are going to get serious about a weight control diet, i.e. losing weight and maintaining your goal weight, you are going to have to end your love affair with food. Now don't try to deny it. You've been seen. And if you don't call it off right now, it's all going to end in tears.

You cannot embrace fatty, sugary and salty treats to prop you up when the going gets tough. It's not what you need and deep down in your fat encrusted heart, you know it's not what you really really want.

The way I see it, there are 3 major reasons we comfort eat. Stress, boredom and the influence of negative emotions such as sadness, anger and loneliness.

Comfort food is not going to fix any of these problems. You are. By recognising the triggers for what they are and disassociating food from your solution.

Everyone suffers from stress. More so in our fast paced and demanding modern society than ever. You are attempting to escape from your stress by indulging in food treats. It's not the right thing to do. You can deal more effectively with your stress through relaxing activities such as meditation, yoga, massage or taking a walk. You can face your stress head on and develop strategies for working through it. Both methods are much more positive for you than feeding your

insecurities and worrying some more.

If you eat through boredom, you need to get another hobby. Eating should not be a time filler. Having coffee can be a time filler, but not if it incorporates a big fat chocolate brownie as an essential side dish. Taking up a sport or a class can be a new hobby. Eating should not be the focus of your day. If the things you look forward to most every day revolve around the contents of the refrigerator, then it's time to get a life. Do something you've always wanted to do, so long as it does not involve food.

You don't want to hear this but you choose your own emotions. If you are typically sad or angry or lonely, that is what you have chosen to be. It's become a nasty habit to be negative or down. No one actually "makes" you feel a certain way. You choose an emotion as a response to whatever situation you are in. With a lot of initial effort (that gets easier with practice) you can choose to be happy or satisfied or calm instead. Your choice.

There's one other major reason we comfort eat. And it's both insidious and alluring like the seductive song of a sugar coated siren. We are told to comfort eat. We are encouraged to give in to our stresses, boredoms and negative emotions by our old nemesis the mass media.

Have a good long objective look at how advertisers market their food products. How many of these foods claim they'll make you happy, interesting, popular and/or sexy??? (I'm guessing probably all of them). Learn to recognise the tricks of the advertising trade and you will be more readily able to repulse them.

If you are overweight, chances are that you indulge in some form of comfort eating. Figure out why you comfort eat and you will be well on the way to a D-i-v-o-r-c-e from your thoroughly unsuitable love.

Unfortunately one of the main reasons people struggle with weight loss and dieting is the lack of water they drink on a daily basis.

Water is the central foundation to every health and fitness goal. You probably know that without water living would be impossible but why is it so important for losing weight?

Not drinking enough water could be the reason you are not losing weight.

Water is the most valuable substance you consume and has a wide variety of essential functions that are the source of life. Let's take a look at a few of the functions water performs in your body and the reasons why it is so important to drink enough water.

But why is water so important for weight loss?

Many people search for appetite suppressants to curve their hunger when the best way to feel fuller is to drink more water. Your brain treats hunger and thirst the same so when you think you are hungry, your brain could actually be signaling you that you are thirsty. People who do not consume enough water throughout the day usually develop hunger pains more than those who drink enough water. Drinking cold water is the best choice. It not only quenches your thirst but can actually boost your metabolism as the water has to be warmed up, burning calories.

Another thing that you should know is that drinking water consistently throughout the day will keep you from over eating, having cravings for sweets and can accelerate your energy levels the natural way. There are many other benefits as well; these are just a few select ones.

Try it! When you feel hungry drink a big glass of water and wait five minutes to see if you are still hungry. Try always having a bottle of water with you, taking sips every so often and see the affects it has on your appetite. In this case you will simply have to drink more water.

Diuretics like coffee, pop, and caffeinated drinks cause the body to lose water and dehydrate the body. By cutting back on these drinks, you will decrease the amount of water you need to consume and your body's absorption of vitamins and minerals will be greater.

Try to always have a bottle of water with you to take sips every so often and see the affects it has on your appetite.

How do you know whether or not you are consuming enough water?

There are several easily noticeable warning signs that your body is not getting enough water and is becoming dehydrated.

Headaches. Headaches are the most common symptom of dehydration. Water flushes out all the toxins in your body and makes up 75% up your brain. No wonder a lack of water causes a headache!
Lack of concentration and fatigue. With a built up amount of toxins in your body due to a lack of water, you will see a drop in your energy level as your body is concentration on dealing with the unwanted toxins in your body.
Constipation. Water in your body will be directed to more vital functions resulting in painful and harder stools from the lack of water.
Reduced urine output or dark urine. 200 liters of water is passed through your kidney's every day so a lack of water will limit your kidney's filtering ability, resulting in darker urine.
Dry mouth and bad breath. When not enough water is frequently passing through your mouth to rinse away the food particles, bacteria can create dry mouth syndrome and bad breath over time.
Skin. Water keeps your skin looking and feeling clear and smooth so if your skin develops dry spots, coloring, and roughness, it could be an indication of you is dehydrating your body.

~The next morning I get up and throw my robe on and go downstairs. Nick's is sitting in the chair eating a bowel of CocoPuffs and he sat drowning a glass of water. Joe walked in behind me.~
JOE: Thirsty much, Nick.
NICK: Whatever, Joe. (he looked at him and then got another glass of water)
KEVIN: (walking up behind me he whispers) Joe, what's wrong with Nick? He's been in a bad mood all week.
JOE: I don't know, Kev. I really don't. Come with me. (they walk outside then Kevin stops and gestures for me to come with them I follow) When he changed for bed last night he seemed thinner.
ME: Maybe he's just stressed out.
KEVIN: Yeah maybe. But I'm going to go talk to mom. (He walks away)
ME: You worried?
JOE: Well, yeah. Nick has never been as bratty as he's been this last week. I don't know what's wrong with him.
~Denise walks in with Kevin telling her what's wrong. She tells Kevin that she'll watch out for him but not to worry. I go upstairs and get dressed then I ask Denise to take me to the Mall.~
ME: Thank you, Denise.
DENISE: What time do you want me to pick you up?
ME: Um, how about 3:00?
DENISE: All right I'll see you then. (she pulls out her cell phone) here's my cell incase you need anything!
ME: Ok, thanks!
~She leaves and I, instead of heading into the mall I go to the church down the street I walk in and sit down in the back row. I pull out the cell Denise gave me and put it on vibrate. The mass starts and I pray through out the whole thing for the Jonas boys, that Nick will be able to make it. For Denise being the only girl in the family. For Frankie that he will grow up as decent as his brothers. Will I am praying my butt vibrates, I grab the phone and walk to the entrance and answer it.~
ME: Hello?
MR JONAS: (sounding strained) Val, I need you to meet me at the front of the mall. Joe and Kevin have to talk to you.
ME: Is everything ok?
PAUL: I don't know but they made me drive to get you.
ME: OK, see you when you get here.
PAUL: Bye.
~I run out of the church and to the front entrance of the mall. Not even 3 minutes later Paul drives up. I get in and He drives me not to the house but to a skating rink.~
PAUL: Kevin, Joe and Nick are in there. I don't but Joe sounded urgent so I came and picked you up. I'll be here about 4 to pick you guys up ok?
ME: Ok, thanks Paul.
~I walk into the rink and give them money for it. As I walk in Kevin and Joe come running up to me.~
KEVIN: This may sound so weird since we basically only met you yesterday.
JOE: But will you talk to Nick?
KEVIN: We want to test him.
ME: I-I guess...
KEVIN: Thank you~
~I walk over to Nick and sit down next to him. He looks over at me then rolls his eyes.~
NICK: Oh, great. Joe and Kevin, right?
ME: Um, no... I just saw and decided to sit with you.
NICK: Right, is that why Kevin and Joe are hiding behind me?
JOE: Nick! What the heck is wrong with you?

~He takes off the big baggy sweatshirt he was wearing and as he takes it off this tee shirt rides up and we all see his I hate say it but, scrawny torso. Apparently he hasn't always been scrawny cause Joe says something.~
JOE: Uh- um, Nick?
NICK: (He turns around sharply) what?
KEVIN: Um, I'll be right back (he pulls out a cell while he's walking away.)
JOE: How did you lose all that weight?
NICK: What?
KEVIN: (he walks up next to me) Guys come on, Nick you're going to the hospital.
NICK: What? Why?
KEVIN: We care about you, and you've lost so much weight within the last couple of weeks. And you've changed too, little bro.
~We all go outside waiting for Denise and Paul. When they pull up Joe and Kevin get in then me then Nick. As we drive to the hospital Nick says he starts getting dizy.~
